These are a Few of Our Favorite Things
How does a S.T.E.A.M. Maker facilitator catch up on her homeschooling blogging? By making up crazy song lyrics that coincide to photo collages, of course! I wrote a song parody because it is fun to try new things and I had never made one before (and may never again). I picked the song because it seemed fitting and it is one of Christopher’s favorites. Thanks to my collaborators Mikaela and Kathy. Feel free to sing it loudly with enthusiasm. It sounds best that way.
Tweens with their projects from sewing to weapons
Fashion designs and cool anime sketches
Beautiful sayings are burned into wood
These are a few of our favorite things
When the bulb lights
When the tops spin
When we try new stuff
We simply remember our favorite things
And makers can’t get enough
Making toboggans and flying down hill tops
T-shirt designs and painting and printing
Peer led activities are so much fun
These are a few of our favorite things
Crafting paper
New inventions
Presentations too
We simply remember our Talking Stick days
And makers can’t get enough.
We study the brain and the impact of crashes
Applying our knowledge we cushion our projects
Falling from ledges our eggs sometimes crack
These are a few of our favorite things.
Here it works out
Here it doesn’t
Here we’re feeling sad
Failure is absent we just try again
And then we don’t feel so bad
Static electric and mummification
Games filled with fun times and collaboration
Choreographing and critical thinking
These are a few of our favorite things.
When you tinker
When you wonder
When you paint with toes
Making is one of our favorite things
And makers can’t get enough.
S.T.E.A.M. Maker S.T.E.A.M. Maker, let me keep playing
I have ideas and plans for my work day
It feels splendid to plan my own day
Tons of materials coming my way
